Questionable Decisions? You Decide!

The following information is true and can be verified at these resources.
http://www.muhlenbergtwp.com/ monthly meeting minutes
http://www.readingeagle.com/ archives, Muhlenberg Township
Right to Know Officer sections 702/703 at the Township Office

August 2007, Rdg. Eagle, Muhlenberg Township to develop two parks for $22 million.

October 2007, hire Parks Mgr. Neal Mc Nutt for $58,000.Current salary $72,119.84

August 2008 According to the Financial Analysis and Operations Review completed by Management Partners and hired by Muhlenberg Township as consultants,
“Muhlenberg currently enjoys a stable financial condition and is well positioned to meet the needs of the residents”.

November 17, 2008 meeting minutes, employment agreement for Steven C. Landes, Township Manager. Moved by Michael Malinowski and seconded by James Murray.

November 2008, Commissioner Malinowski and Township Manager Steve Landes discuss a budget shortfall on a live BCTV show with host John Kramer. They stated that they had to trim 1.6 million from the 2009 budget. They also stated there was a “shortfall since the 2008 budget that was passed as a deficit budget”.
In addition, “the board decided to not fill a Finance Manager’s position”.

Q. How could we go from “stable” to a 1.6 million deficit in a few months?

January 2009, Reading Eagle “plans on how they will spend the $10 million”
“they decided to allocate $8 million on roads and 1.6 for parks & recreation”.

February 2009, Reading Eagle “the township will use 3.4 million of the borrowed money to refinance existing debt, 4.2 million for road improvements and public works and 1.8 million for parks and recreation”.

Q. Why wasn’t the $3.4 million mentioned in the 2008 Financial Analysis?
Q. Why did the road improvements drop from $8 million to $4.2 in one month!

April 2009 hire Director of Engineering and Codes  $95,480.00

December 20,2010 hired a Finance Director.
May 2011 Reading Eagle headline, Reading failed to file W-@ tax forms with state.
“ Dawn Cieniewicz, the former city accounting director who is now finance director for Muhlenberg Township could not be reached for comment”.

Q. November 2008 the board decided not to fill a Finance Manager’s position, so what changed? And are we getting our money’s worth for $68,000

Greetings Neighbors!

    Hello Everyone!
After much thought and prayer, I've decided to run for Muhlenberg Township Commissioner.
It's been said by some folks that I don't stand much of a chance because this campaign will paid for out of my own pocket. I am not going to seek financial support or endorcements from any corporation, or political action groups. This includes the Teamsters of which I am a member. As time goes on, I will post my thoughts on how we can work together to make Muhlenberg Twp. a place to once again be proud of! Please feel free to use this forum to share ideas, concerns or opinions.
